The (CITB) SMSTS Training Course
The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course is a 5 day course delivered by CITB Accredited tutors to many thousands of delegates each year.
Client-based personnel would also benefit from attending the course. For site managers, this qualification is listed in the Approved Code of Practice for the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) as evidence of meeting the required standard of competence.
Construction site managers and supervisors have a legal duty to ensure the health and safety of their fellow workers and the public. Not only are there laws and regulations to adhere to, there is a moral duty to do all that is possible to prevent accidents and injuries onsite and prepare you to manage a safe site at all times.
Course Aims
The SMSTS Course aims to give an understanding of delegates responsibilities and accountability for site safety, health and welfare, current health and safety legislation. You will be required to attend all five days of the course in order to be awarded the qualification. During 5 day SMSTS training delegates will need to show understanding of the main elements and pass the core exercises. At the end of the training you will be required to sit a final examination, passing the exam will mean you qualify for the certificate which is then valid for five years.

SMSTS Refresher Training The SMSTS Refresher Course (CITB) is intended for those who currently hold a valid (SMSTS) Site Management Safety Training Scheme certificate. The certificate must be renewed every 5 years by attending the SMSTS refresher course. This can only be done after the 5 years has elapsed and must be done within the 6 months period.
The SMSTS Refresher Course Aims
To give an understanding of delegates responsibilities and accountability for site safety, health and welfare and current health and safety legislation including risk assessment.
This course is designed to allow delegates to maintain and update their current health and safety knowledge.

The SSSTS provides an introduction to health and safety, welfare and environmental issues for those requiring an understanding of their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. It will provide a sound knowledge base to enable them to give valuable assistance in safely managing a construction site.

The CCNSG Safety Passport Scheme is a nationally recognised qualification.
Many companies insist on their personnel holding the CCNSG Safety Passport qualification before allowing them access to a site or premises. The CCNSG Safety Passport course gives basic knowledge of Health and Safety and complements on-site induction enabling employees to work more safely and with lower risk to themselves and others.
The CCNSG Safety Passport training course meets the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety Executive.

CCNSG Safety Passport Training Course Assessment
Each module of the CCNSG Safety Passport is assessed through multiple choice question papers with the examination pass mark for each paper set at 80%.

Important Additional Information
Two passport sized photographs and a national insurance number are required by each delegate on the first day of the CCNSG Safety Passport course. Delegates are awarded the CCNSG Safety Passport upon successful completion of the course.
Please Note: The CCNSG Safety Passport is valid for 3 years after which time renewal consists of a 1 day CCNSG Safety Passport Renewal course. Delegates have 3 months from expiry date of their CCNSG Safety Passport in which to complete the CCNSG Renewal
The CCNSG Safety Passport Renewal course is designed to bring safety passport holders up to date with new legislation before their current CCNSG Safety Passport expires. Candidates must attend the CCNSG Safety Passport Renewal course within three months of the current CCNSG Safety Passport expiry date.
The CCNSG Safety Passport Renewal Course is Intended For All persons wishing to renew their CCNSG Safety Passport.

Update on legislation and safety practices
Refresher on the areas covered in the safety passport
Hazard spotting and job safety analysis
A new CCNSG Safety Passport will be awarded by the ECITB / CCNSG upon successful completion of the assessment at the end of the course.
The new CCNSG Safety Passport will expire three years from the expiry date of the current passport.
CCNSG Safety Passport Renewal Course Important Information Candidates may attend the CCNSG Safety Passport Renewal course up to three months before and three months beyond the expiry date of their current passport. The expiry date for the new passport will be three years from the previous expiry date. Two passport sized photographs and a national insurance number are required on the first day of this course along side an existing valid CCNSG Safety Passport.
Delegates are awarded the CCNSG Safety Passport on successful completion of the course.
The CCNSG Supervisor Passport course is a one day course. The aim of the CCNSG Supervisor training course is to set the scene within the context of legislation and general Health and Safety aspects. The CCNSG Supervisor Course is valid for three years from the date of the course. To be eligible to attend the Supervisor Course, you must hold a current CCNSG Safety Passport.
